Salt Spring Island – Grid-tie Solar Carport

Objective

This developing permaculture farm wanted to offset some of their energy consumption in their daily operations. They have a goal of net neutrality in the future.

The Solution

We assessed the property for the ideal location for a solar array. We picked a spot that has optimal solar potential and is aesthetically pleasing. We offered a practical solution that offset 60% of the energy they consume and also offers shelter for animals and farm equipment. The result is this high-performing, 11kw solar carport, connected to an SMA inverter. The array is wired for high voltage, to accommodate the long cable run, back to the inverter in the power shed.
